Kate Mosse publishes crowd-funded book with Unbound
Last Monday evening saw the first ever Unbound Live event at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill. As well as introducing a raft of new projects on Unbound the big news of the evening was our launch of a book by multi-million best-selling author, playwright and broadcaster Kate Mosse celebrating 50 years of the Chichester Festival Theatre.
From it’s inception under the artistic direction of Laurence Olivier to today the CFT was the seed from which British contemporary theatre grew and where the National Theatre company was formed while waiting for its new home on London’s South Bank to be ready.
Many of the greatest names in theatre and film have trodden its boards including Ian McKellen, Sam Mendes, Lauren Bacall, Stephen Fry, Kathleen Turner, Derek Jacobi, John Gielgud and Diana Rigg.
Kate’s passion for theatre where her father once worked and where she took her first paid job selling ice creams will infuse and inform this crowd-funded book which will be accompanied by stunning images, many previously unpublished, from the golden age of British theatre.
Kate’s novel Labyrinth – the first of her international No 1 bestsellers – has been translated into 38 languages and published in 40 countries. It won the Richard and Judy Best Read Award in 2006 and was selected as one of Waterstone’s Top 25 Novels of the last 25 years.
All royalties from this new book all go to the Chichester Festival Theatre to ensure that the next generation of playwrights, performers and audiences will be as well served as those who have loved the theatre in its first half-century.
