Jackie Collins is an English writer who was born in London on 4th October 1937 as Jacqueline Jill Collins.

Being the daughter of a theatrical agent, she was exposed to ‘show business’ from an early age, and after she was expelled from school at age 15 (she threw her school uniform into the Thames after this event) she began acting (like her older sister, Joan) in British 1950s B movies and appearing in a couple television series in the 1960s and 80s.

Jackie Collins today lives alone in a Beverly Hills Mansion which she designed herself, describing herself as a “Cool Bachelor” after being twice divorced. Jackie Collins writes books which explore sexual scandals and the world of organised crime, her most famous books being Poor Little Bitch Girl, Lethal Seduction, Lovers and Players and Hollywood Wives.

Her first novel, The World Is Full of Married Men, which was published in 1969 caused such a scandal with its themes being described as “nasty, filthy and disgusting” and was even banned in Australia and South Africa… the scandal, however, lead to increased sales in the UK and USA. Jackie Collins has, to date, written 26 books which have sold over four hundred million copies across the glove and have all been featured on the New York Times bestseller list.

Several of Jackie Collins’ books have been adapted for film such as The Bitch and Chances. She later wrote several sequels to Chances which were also adapted for the big screen; her first two Lucky Santangelo books were combined to form the television mini series which was entitled Lucky Chances.
