Anthony Horowitz, born in Middlesex, England in April of 1956, used books as an escape from his childhood pains and despairs. When he finally began to find friendships among his peers at the Orley Farm boarding school in Harrow, London he did so by winning them over with the tales he spun, captivating them over shared book readings.

It was then he knew that he was destined to be a writer. His first published work, ‘The Sinister Secret of Frederick K Bower’, was released in 1979 and he quickly followed this children’s book with three more before going on to write the first novel in his noted Pentagram series.

Anthony Horowitz continued to publish novels while simultaneously penning television series and episodes with such stars as Richard Carpenter; he was also the creator of the ‘Crossbow’ television series. When Horowitz wrote ‘Groosham Grange’ he was met with acclaim and merited the 1989 Lancashire Children’s Book of the Year Award, and he continued to supply great works to eager readers.

Horowitz spanned across both the literary and cinematic genres with his array of titles, Off Broadway plays such as ‘Mindgame’, television series, and movies alike. Some of his show contributions were to ‘Dramarama’, ‘Murder Most Horrid’, ‘Foyle’s War’, and ‘Collision’. He also wrote ‘The Gathering’ that was sent to the silver screen in 2002.

Anthony Horowitz continues to write and work today in North London, living with his wife Jill Green. Together they have two boys, Nicholas Mark and Cassian James. Horowitz often draws from them both inspiration for his works and unyielding support which he recognizes has been instrumental in his success.
